Neuschwanstein Castle

First thing’s first, you should reserve your Neuschwanstein tickets.

Tickets with a specific visiting time can be reserved for an additional prepaid charge two days before the desired castle visit (3 pm local time) at the latest. The visiting time can only be changed or the ticket cancelled up to 2 hours before the start of the tour (also by phone).

The reserved tickets must be picked up no later than 1.5 hours before the confirmed entrance time. Otherwise the reservation will be forfeited.

We decided just to walk around the castle instead of going in. You have to park your car at the base (6euro) and then take a bus (1.50euro per way per pax) to go up the the Castle. Walk around the castle and then at the bus station, there is another route to view the Castle from far where all the postcard photos were taken. It was the bridge. Must visit this bridge to take the postcard photo of the castle.  s a good small restaurant on the way to the castle.

One Evening: Hofbräuhaus and main street of downtown Munich

Walk the “main” street of the fortified city of Munich, which goes in a straight line from Isartor in the East, through Marienplatz (the main plaza in the center of the city) to Karlstor to the West.  The whole street is about 3000 feet long (1 km) so walking from one end to the other will take around 15 – 20 minutes.  It is in reality two streets, called “Tal” East of Marienplatz and “Kaufingerstrasse” West of Marienplatz.

Isartor and Karlstor are two of the gates to the fortified city.  To have the best view of the gates make sure you step out of the fortified city and look at it from the outside.  In particular for Isartor it makes sense to cross the large street just outside the city gate to look at it from a distance.
